As part of a partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, Boyd Gaming recently purchased nearly 12,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, distributed to B Connected members on Sunday, Feb. 19.
B Connected members were able to take home their first box free, then earn a second box after they hit 300 points. Properties across Las Vegas offered favorite flavors like Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties and Shortbread cookies.
Boyd Gaming purchased the cookies through the “CEOs in Training,” a program that benefits Girl Scouts by teaching character development, life skills and real-world business experience through training and workshops.
One of the targeted skills, presentation skills, is especially exercised through a 30-60 minute sales presentation for cookies that participants give to members of the business community, and then receive feedback on their performances. The program provides Girl Scouts a hands-on business experience at an early age, helping them learn presentation and public speaking skills as well as how to conduct themselves in business situations. Two local Girl Scouts participating in the CEOS in Training program made a short presentation to several Boyd Gaming executives before closing the sale.
“Boyd Gaming is honored to support the great work of the Girl Scouts, as they teach girls across southern Nevada the importance of courage, confidence and character – and in doing so, help them grow into our community’s next generation of leaders,” said Marianne Johnson, Vice Chairman, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of Boyd Gaming.
