Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval recently appointed Boyd Gaming Vice President of Design and Construction Ron Frye to the Oversight Panel for Convention Facilities. This advisory panel will be responsible for reviewing, approving and providing recommendations to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority on its $1.4 billion expansion plans for the Las Vegas convention center.
Frye was selected due to his extensive experience in designing and building numerous facilities for Boyd Gaming. Since 1994, Frye has worked on a variety of design and construction projects for Boyd Gaming properties, including the design of the Suncoast Hotel and Casino and The Orleans Hotel and Casino, along with its expansion towers, theatre and arena, from the ground up. Additionally, Frye worked on improvement projects for the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino. Frye became the Vice President of Design and Construction for Boyd Gaming in 2010 and, along with his team, oversees an average of more than 100 projects each year.
“I’m very honored I was selected to sit on the board,” said Frye. “Boyd Gaming has called Southern Nevada home for more than 40 years, and this was another great opportunity for our Company to show its support for the community.”
The project will add more than 600,000 square feet of new meeting space to the Las Vegas convention center and modernize the existing facility making it the second largest convention center in the United States.
“I’m excited to work on this project with some of the top construction professionals in Las Vegas,” Frye said. “It’s a great opportunity for us to bring together our ideas, experience and knowledge to ensure this project succeeds and benefits the Las Vegas economy.”
