Treasure Chest Team Members Celebrate Mardi Gras In Style

Several lucky Treasure Chest Casino players and team members recently experienced Mardi Gras like VIPs.

For the third year, the Kenner, La.-based casino invited customers and team members to be special guests in its coveted Mardi Gras skybox, a prime viewing spot located in the heart of The Big Easy's parade route on Veterans Boulevard.

"Mardi Gras is the greatest free show on earth," said Joe Lonero, Player Development Manager for Treasure Chest. "It’s a time for family and friends to get together and catch beads, trinkets and enjoy the live bands, dance teams and extravagant costumes. It somewhat compares to Disney World, but New Orleans-style, where adults can be kids for a day."

Team members selected from this year’s skybox ticket drawing were invited to enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities in the skybox. On Mardi Gras Day (Feb. 28), the skybox was exclusively reserved for these team members and their guests.

“For the past three years, the Treasure Chest has offered up to 25 well-deserving team members a chance to win tickets to celebrate Mardi Gras in the VIP skybox,” said Lonero. “This year, we were happy to receive the largest team member turnout since this property-wide drawing first started.”

Treasure Chest team members Mary Vicknair, H.R. Specialist, and Bessie Mack, Security Shift Manager, shared their experiences in the lavish skybox.

“My daughter and I had a blast bonding with friends and fellow team members,” said Vicknair. “We also had an incredible view of the parade. I hope I get lucky enough to get a ticket next year!”

“I brought my mom as a guest and we had so much fun,” said Mack. “Our seats were great and the weather was beautiful!”

During all five nights of parades, Treasure Chest guests also enjoyed the skybox along with the fun and frivolity of the colorful Carnival parades. Guests also had the opportunity to dine on some of New Orleans’ favorite delicacies in the skybox, such as red beans and rice, gumbo and seafood jambalaya, all prepared by Treasure Chest’s Executive Chef Hoyce Otis.

Lonero said many guests and team members commented that they thought this was the most fun-filled way to view the Mardi Gras parades and are already hoping to reserve their spot in the skybox for next year.
