In March, Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino was recognized with the Above and Beyond Award, given to the property by the Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Committee. The award recognizes Par-A-Dice’s tremendous efforts toward providing a supportive environment for team members who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. Nick Jackson, Security Supervisor at Par-A-Dice, also received the ESGR Patriot Award for his tireless determination to help meet the needs of the service members he oversees.
Par-A-Dice was presented with the Above and Beyond Award for being an employer that provides employed service members with benefits and supportive services that surpass what is legally required by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
Cori Rutherford, Vice President and General Manager at Par-A-Dice, feels honored that the property, as well as Jackson and Par-A-Dice’s Security Department, were recognized for supporting the heroes who protect the nation and work for Boyd Gaming.
“Par-A-Dice and Boyd Gaming are proud to support the armed forces, and this recognition is an honor and a privilege,” said Rutherford. “Supporting the military is part of our Company’s culture. Our two co-founders are both veterans, and we also employ many veterans around the country.”
A former team member and reservist nominated Jackson for the ESGR Patriot Award after Jackson worked hard to help her balance her work schedule and her service to the Reserve. He was also nominated for assisting team members with finding solutions to difficult situations that have resulted from their hectic agendas.
The entire Par-A-Dice team prides itself on accommodating the schedules of reservists and members of the National Guard with no issues, regardless if they receive an order at a late notice.
“The duty of our service members can sometimes be stressful,” said Jackson. “That is why we’re happy to help make their lives easier by working with their schedules and supporting their needs whenever possible.”
Two reservists and Par-A-Dice team members, Security Officer Ron Taylor and Table Games Dealer Tyreika Brock, applauded the property for their efforts.
“The Par-A-Dice team has always worked with my mandatory drill schedule,” said Taylor. “I’m so grateful I can easily request time off to serve our military, while also knowing I’ll still have a job when I return home.”
“Par-A-Dice has been extremely helpful with scheduling my work hours around my drill training,” said Brock. “My supervisors have gone out of their way to make sure I didn’t miss any hours by allowing me to work on days I’d normally have off, so I can still keep up with my budget.”
