Charlene Spencer – Fremont Hotel and Casino – Food & Beverage Shift Supervisor

On the Job: Every day, Charlene Spencer is hard at work to make sure that her customers and fellow team members are completely satisfied. From supervising team members to handling scheduling to facilitating good customer service and handling guest issues whenever they arise, Spencer juggles all of her responsibilities with optimism.
“I learned that to be a good leader means to look at your work with a positive attitude, and aim for the best results no matter what,” said Spencer. “Even if not everyone’s happy with how a situation turns out, it’s still important to pull whatever positive you can out of it.”
In her new role, Spencer now works with multiple outlets at the Fremont, and is responsible for more team members in many aspects, including scheduling and payroll duties. Spencer’s recent promotion came from hard work and clear communication with her supervisor, Adele Sesler, Manager of Food & Beverage Operations.
“Charlene set a goal for herself 12 months ago to be promoted, and she has achieved every task I have set for her,” said Sesler. “She has never wavered, even when I was really challenging her, and she achieved her goal.”
As a new supervisor, Spencer hopes her team members see how dependable she is, and that she follows through, true to her word.
“I’m a sincere and honest person, and I try hard,” said Spencer. “My fellow team members can count on me to always follow through and lead them in the right direction.”
After Hours: A native Hawaiian, it’s family first for Spencer when it comes to her downtime. She loves to cook and spend time with her daughter, her nephews and the rest of her family.
Tiffany Bedwell – Players Club Supervisor – Cannery Casino Hotel

On the Job: Tiffany Bedwell joined Cannery Casino Hotel’s team in January 2016 as Players Club Representative. Less than a year later, Bedwell’s exceptional customer service and willingness to assist others got her promoted to Lead Players Club Representative. By continuing to work hard, she moved up to Players Club Supervisor in April 2017.
As the Players Club Supervisor, Bedwell helps to address issues facing the team members she oversees and schedules their shifts for day-to-day operations. She also handles guest inquiries and helps find solutions to their concerns. In addition to managing guest relations, Bedwell issues gift cards, comps, gift promotions and runs drawings. Bedwell also produces daily promotions reports and ensures that the Cannery website and all collateral material have the most current content available.
In her new role, Bedwell enjoys interacting with even more guests, and making them feel at home at the Cannery. She’s also learned that teamwork goes a long way.
“When we all work together, we can create an enjoyable experience for Cannery customers,” said Bedwell. “This in turn helps us accomplish our mission and purpose, which is to provide excellent customer service and persuade our guests to keep coming back to the Cannery.”
Bedwell hopes that her colleagues know she will do her best to assist them when they need her.
“I believe we are all equal and should help each other meet our goals within the workplace,” said Bedwell. “I want my fellow team members to always know they can come to me for assistance.”
Players Club Manager Kerrie Prell said that Bedwell is well-liked and respected by her peers and Cannery guests alike. She also added that Bedwell’s dedication to never stop learning has helped her grow in her career.
“Since the day Tiffany stepped foot into the Players Club, she has had a thirst for knowledge and desire to do more,” said Prell. “Tiffany truly understands the importance of customer service. Her positive attitude and excellent customer service skills ensure our guests know their satisfaction matters.”
After Hours: Outside of work, Bedwell enjoys spending time with her boyfriend while they explore the great outdoors, watch movies and play their favorite board games.
