Big Al’s Oyster Bar Recognized by TripAdvisor with Certificate of Excellence

Big Al’s Oyster Bar at The Orleans Hotel and Casino recently received a 2017 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for being in the top 10 percent of establishments on TripAdvisor that have consistently earned outstanding feedback from visitors.

This celebrated recognition honors venues that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence. Big Al’s Oyster Bar was selected based on the quality of reviews and opinions it has earned on TripAdvisor over the past year. Additional criteria for the award includes a business' tenure and popularity ranking on the TripAdvisor site. The oyster bar currently has a 4.5 out of 5 rating on the TripAdvisor website with a total of 372 reviews. Big Al’s is also ranked No. 354 out of 3,957 restaurants in Las Vegas.

The oyster bar serves freshly shucked oysters and clams, steamed clams, pan roasts, bouillabaisse and pasta dishes served with an authentic creole and Cajun flair. Aside from their delicious oysters, Big Al’s favorite Bayou entrees include the jambalaya pasta, which is served with andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, Tasso ham, peppers and onions in a creole sauce with fettuccini. Another best-loved dish at Big Al’s is the Louisiana gumbo, which has shrimp, chicken, Tasso ham and andouille sausage, simmered in creole spices.

Diners also enjoy Big Al’s famous chowders, including the Boston and Manhattan clam chowders, as well as the seafood chowder that combines both the Boston and Manhattan clam chowders with shrimp, scallops and crab.

Big Al’s offers New Orleans-inspired specialty drinks, including the Hurricane, which is a blend of dark and light rum with splashes of orange and pineapple juice and is topped off with a float of 151 proof rum. Big Al’s is also popular for its build-your-own Bloody Marys. Guests can add unique toppings to their Bloody Marys, such as crab legs, oysters and clams, in addition to classic Bloody Mary toppings like bacon strips and veggies.

The restaurant is open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Happy hour is held daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and features half-price cocktails, mocktails and oyster shooters, as well as the baker’s dozen oysters served on the half shell special for $22.
