Kansas Star, Sam’s Town Las Vegas and Eldorado Receive 2017 Safety Awards

Boyd Gaming’s commitment to workplace safety is an integral part of the Company’s culture. One of the many ways Boyd Gaming promotes safety is by recognizing properties that have the best performance in maintaining a safe environment for guests and team members to enjoy.

Each year, the Boyd Gaming properties with the best overall and most improved safety performances for the year are honored with the Company’s Safety Awards. These awards include the President’s Award for Safety, which is presented to the property with the best safety statistics in the Blue Division (properties above 800 team members) and Silver Division (properties below 800 team members). The Most Improved Property Safety Award is presented to the properties that have the most improved safety statistics from the previous calendar year in the Blue and Silver Divisions.

For the third consecutive year, Kansas Star Casino Hotel Event Center was awarded the President’s Award for Safety in the Blue Division, making Kansas Star the first property to win the President’s Award three times in a row.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas won the Most Improved Property Safety Award for 2017 in the Blue Division after previously winning the President’s Safety Award in 2012.

And in a division sweep, Eldorado Casino won the President’s Award for Safety and the Most Improved Property Safety Award for achieving the best safety statistics in the Silver Division and for having the most improved safety statistics in 2017.

The Safety Award program raises awareness of workplace safety and it encourages properties to set and meet meaningful safety goals for reducing injury rates and returning injured team members to work. In addition, the program provides information updates on safety performance measures and supports active property participation in the management of team member injuries.

“Earning a Safety Award takes dedication, hard work and focus by the property and the entire property team,” said Dennis Siano, Vice President of Safety for Boyd Gaming. “Congratulations to Kansas Star, Sam’s Town Las Vegas and Eldorado for their outstanding commitment to practicing workplace safety!”
