Boyd Gaming recently expanded its presence in the state of Illinois.
With the recent acquisition of Lattner Entertainment Group in Ottawa, Ill., Boyd Gaming has made its first entry into the distributed gaming, or “slot route” business, with an eye on growing this portfolio.
Distributed gaming consists of placing and operating slot machines at third-party locations, such as taverns and bars, with only a few slot machines at each venue. Lattner Entertainment Group operates about 1,000 gaming units in more than 200 locations throughout Illinois, primarily at taverns and bars, restaurants, fraternal organizations and truck stops.
“Our games have the newest software and the latest titles,” said Bobby Walsh, President of Lattner Entertainment Group. “And the Lattner management team has 96 years combined experience in bar and tavern gaming. The experience we offer is head and shoulders above anyone in our marketplace, so we do it very well.”
Lattner Entertainment focuses on serving customers who enjoy a different gaming experience than a casino. But while the distributed gaming experience is different from what you see in a casino, Lattner Entertainment and Boyd Gaming share similar values and a similar dedication to great service.
“This is a great opportunity for Boyd Gaming and Lattner Entertainment,” said Walsh. “We share the same visions. Boyd Gaming cares about its people and does things the right way for the right reasons. We both have high integrity, great reputations, credibility, expertise and a desire to grow. And in Illinois, people really love Boyd Gaming; they have had great experiences.”
