VINTON, La.—Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel will begin its 2015 Quarter Horse season with a new face in the racing office. Matt Crawford has been hired as the track’s racing secretary effective immediately.
Crawford, a 57-year-old native of Texas, brings many years of experience and knowledge to his new position. He most recently served as director of racing and racing secretary at Hialeah Park in South Florida. His resume also includes working as an assistant racing secretary at Fair Grounds, Louisiana Downs and Lone Star Park. Earlier in his career he worked with both Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds as a trainer and an assistant trainer.
“We are very happy to have Matt on our team here at Delta Downs,” said Chris Warren, director of racing at Delta Downs and Evangeline Downs. “His prior work in the racing industry along with his ability to communicate effectively with the horsemen will be a valuable asset to this racetrack as we continue to grow into the future.”
Crawford’s work at Delta Downs has already begun as he prepares for the track’s Quarter Horse season which gets underway on Wednesday, April 22. The 46-day season runs through July 11 with live racing each Wednesday through Saturday night beginning at 6:15 pm CT.
