CINCINATTI, Ohio—On March 23, Belterra Park Cincinnati donated approximately 2,742 pounds of perishable food product to local non-profit La Soupe Cincinnati to help feed families in the Tri-State area in response to the COVID-19 situation.
The food contribution helped reduce the amount of wasted product going to landfill while at the same time assisted in feeding the hungry in the local community. La Soupe has been effective in transforming excess produce and other ingredients into healthy food items and nutritious meals and delivering them to those living in food insecurity. La Soupe typically shares 6,500 servings a week to agencies such as schools, after school programs and churches in need, which has increased tremendously in recent weeks due to community partner food contributions amidst the COVID-19 crisis. Belterra Park’s donation supported La Soupe’s Rescue Transformation Share program along with the Bucket Brigade and Cincinnati Gives a Crock programs. The populations currently being served are those most vulnerable to economic downturns and health crises.
