Boyd Gaming Destinations Give Back this Holiday Season

In the spirit of the season of giving, Boyd Gaming destinations across the United States are giving back to our communities to help make the holiday season brighter.

Check out some of the ways team members are spreading holiday cheer through various charitable activities throughout the country.

Wreaths of Hope

Boyd Gaming destinations nationwide are participating in the Company’s annual holiday competition, “Wreaths of Hope.” More than 140 charities across the United States are competing in the 2020 holiday tradition, as Boyd Gaming properties across the country award a combined prize pool of nearly $150,000. To allow for social distancing by participants, Boyd Gaming temporarily changed this annual, companywide event from “Trees of Hope” to “Wreaths of Hope,” inspired by the wreath-decorating competition held at Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel for the first time last year.

This year, nonprofit organizations throughout the United States decorated wreaths in the spirit of their organization to be displayed at Boyd Gaming properties across the nation and online. There are 18 Boyd Gaming properties in seven states participating in the 2020 competition, including Par-A-Dice in Illinois; Kansas Star in Kansas; Amelia Belle, Delta Downs, Evangeline Downs, Sam’s Town Shreveport and Treasure Chest in Louisiana; IP and Sam’s Town Tunica in Mississippi; Ameristar Kansas City in Missouri; Aliante, The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Cannery, California and Sam’s Town in Nevada; and Valley Forge in Pennsylvania. Stay tuned to Boyd Buzz for the full list of 2020 Wreaths of Hope winners in early January.

IP Casino Resort Spa Donates $40,000 in Surplus Food to Local Food Banks

IP Casino Resort Spa recently contributed nearly $40,000 in surplus food to local food banks this holiday season. The food donations were distributed to Seashore Mission, Feed My Sheep and Loaves and Fishes, three local non-profit organizations that provide meals to residents in need throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Each charity received approximately $13,000 in food products, including pasta, meat, seafood, vegetables and spices.

Treasure Chest’s Annual Toys for Tots Drive

Treasure Chest Casino hosted their annual Toys for Tots drive from November 22 through December 10 to help make the season merry and bright for children throughout the Southeast Louisiana community. Toys for Tots is a nonprofit organization founded by the United States Marine Corps Reserve to distribute toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season. This year, Treasure Chest donated eight large boxes full of new toys that will bring hope and joy to several local families in need.

Ameristar St. Charles Team Members Give Back to a Variety of Causes

Team members at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles participated in a variety of charitable holiday activities throughout the season. In November, the property prepared Thanksgiving meals for Missouri Veterans Endeavor, a non-profit organization that provides long-term housing and comprehensive services to veterans and their families. The pre-made holiday meals were prepared by Executive Chef Josh Schlink, Chef Erin Douglas and their teams, and were delivered to the organization where veterans and their families enjoyed the delectable Thanksgiving feast.

In early December, Ameristar St. Charles team members participated in the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce’s 10thAnnual Santa’s North Pole Dash as course marshals. Team members distributed water and cheered on runners as they ran the holiday-themed race, bringing joy to the community during difficult times.

On December 10, Ameristar St. Charles presented toy donations to children served by Angels’ Arms, a charity that provides essential services and housing support for foster children and their families. The toy drive supported the organization’s Giving Tree initiative where team members selected an ornament with a child’s name and provided them with new, unwrapped gifts. Gifts purchased by team members included dolls, games, electronics and remote control cars. A total of 61 children in the local foster care program will receive gifts from Ameristar St. Charles’ generous team members.

In addition to supporting Angels’ Arms Giving Tree toy drive, Ameristar St. Charles team members also filled up a large box full of new toys to donate to Toys for Tots. The toy donations will go to children in need in the St. Louis community, bringing smiles to several families who were not expecting to receive gifts for their children this year.

Aliante and Corporate Marketing Team Members Support Local Food Drive

Throughout the holiday season, Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa and Corporate Marketing team members have volunteered for The Just One Project’s Pop-Up & Give Mobile Market, a program designed to bring groceries into food insecure neighborhoods across Southern Nevada. On December 12, Aliante and Corporate Marketing team members joined forces to sort and pass out food to families in need at a Las Vegas middle school. The pop-up food distribution site was contactless, meaning team members who volunteered were able to safely place much-needed groceries in the car trunks of local families. On that day alone, team members were able to hand out boxes of food to more than 400 local families in need. Boyd Gaming Regional Vice President of Marketing, Laura De La Cruz, has also volunteered for The Just One Project throughout the year to distribute food to an average of 150 families at each event, recruiting several Boyd Gaming team members to help this great cause.
