Boyd Gaming Donates More Than $145,000 During ‘Wreaths of Hope’

Boyd Gaming destinations across the United States helped make the 2020 holiday season merry and bright by awarding a prize pool of more than $145,000 to more than 135 non-profit organizations nationwide through the Company’s annual holiday competition, “Wreaths of Hope.”

To allow for social distancing by participants, Boyd Gaming temporarily changed this annual, companywide event from “Trees of Hope” to “Wreaths of Hope,” inspired by the wreath-decorating competition held at Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel in 2019. Participating charities decorated wreaths in the spirit of their organization that were displayed online and at Boyd Gaming properties across the country.

A total of 18 Boyd Gaming destinations participated in the 2020 Wreaths of Hope competition in Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Winners were decided directly by Boyd Gaming customers, who were invited to vote for their favorite charities online and in-person at select participating properties.

Since launching Trees of Hope in 2007 at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel in Vinton, La., Boyd Gaming has steadily expanded the competition into additional markets across the nation, awarding a prize pool of more than $850,000 to hundreds of non-profit organizations to date. In 2020, Boyd Gaming awarded the largest national prize pool in the history of the annual holiday competition to the most participating charities in a single year with a combined prize pool of more than $145,000 awarded to more than 135 non-profits nationwide.
